The Society to Eliminate Loneliness exists to reduce social isolation and loneliness in communities across Nova Scotia.
Loneliness is not a personal failing, and it is not rare. It affects people at every stage of life, and it deepens when it goes unacknowledged. The Society believes it deserves the same serious, organized attention as any other challenge to community wellbeing.
That work begins with getting it right: paying attention to what the research says actually helps, listening closely to communities, and being honest about what is working and what is not.
The Society is committed to inclusion from the outset. Its work is for everyone, including newcomers and longtime residents, people with disabilities, parents of young children, and anyone who has not been invited anywhere in a while.
It also believes connection should be enjoyable. Belonging rarely comes from a scheduled wellness initiative. It grows through shared projects, good food, good company, and good laughs.
The Society is in its earliest stages. If you have ever felt the quiet of a long winter, or watched someone you love get smaller in their world, you are warmly invited to help shape what it becomes.
